TOTALIZER OPERATION

EXAMPLES OF TOTALIZER COUNT FACTORS

There are three configurable factors that affect what one totalized count equals
in actual engineering units and how quickly the totalizer counts. The first
factor is the engineering units configured in the TOTALIZE MENU. The other
factors are the rate (engineering units time base), and the totalizer scale factor.
Table 14 and its notes give several flow examples of how these factors affect
the totalizer count. Flow is normalized to zero (engineering units low is 0 for
a nonlinear flow input using square root).

If you are totalizing on a temperature signal, the configured engineering low
value becomes your zero based process value and is subtracted from the
process value to get the difference for count. For example, a 75°C process
value with a 50°C low value and a 100°C high value will produce a count of 25
in one minute if the time base is minutes and the scale factor is 1.
