Firmware Upgrade Chip Installation

In some cases the VSC firmware may require replacement with an updated version. There is
one user-replaceable firmware chip: U29 — the main microcon troller. The number is printed
on the circuit board. We recommend that you send the unit in to Extron for service and
updates.

WARNING: Changes to firmware must be performed by authorized service personnel

only.

Follow these steps to replace firmware in the VSC.

1.

Disconnect the AC power cord from the VSC to remove power from the unit.

WARNING: To prevent electric shock, always unplug the VSC video scan converter

from the AC power source before opening the enclosure.

Remove the scan converter from the rack or furniture.

2.

Remove the cover of the VSC (the top half of the enclosure) by removing the screws,
sliding the cover back, then lifting the cover straight up.
