Deleting RCUs (Delete RCU)

You can delete an RCU from an MCU only after all Continuous Access XP volume pairs between the MCU

CU image and RCU CU image are deleted. When you delete an RCU from an MCU, the MCU deletes all

logical paths from the current MCU CU image to the selected RCU CU image. Deleting an RCU does not

affect Continuous Access XP operations between other MCU CU images and that RCU. After an RCU is

deleted, reconfigure remote copy connections to add another RCU to the MCU, or remove remote copy

connections and reconfigure MCU ports (initiator ports to ordinary target ports for fibre, RCPs to LCPs for

serial) to provide additional host channels for the MCU.
Use the Delete RCU command to delete selected RCU from the current MCU CU image. If all affected pairs

are not deleted, the MCU rejects the delete RCU operation to prevent accidental deletion of Continuous

Access XP pairs.

Connect to the MCU.

Ensure that all affected Continuous Access XP volume pairs are deleted. Volume pairs, which consist of

a P-VOL in the connected MCU and CU image and an S-VOL in the selected RCU, must be deleted.

From the CU number/Port tree on the RCU Operation pane, ensure that the correct CU image is

selected.

4.

From the MCU/RCU list, click the RCU to be deleted.

5.

Right-click, click RCU Operation, and click Delete RCU.

6.

Click Apply on the Continuous Access XP main pane to apply the deletion to the disk array.

RCU path parameters

For the Fibre Channel interface, two types of CHF P/K (Fibre Channel packages) are provided: 4-port

and 2-port packages. The port mode depends on the package type. Also, each port might have a

different PCB mode setting (standard or high-speed). Therefore, when you configure paths among initiator

ports, target ports, and RCU target ports, study the port modes and specify the correct mode for each

port.
