V-VOL limits

The maximum number of V-VOL groups that can be created for each storage system is 65,280. For
XP24000/XP20000 storage systems, the maximum number of V-VOLs in a V-VOL group is 1024.

For HP StorageWorks P9500 storage systems, the default maximum number of V-VOLs that can be
created at one time with the Create V-VOL Wizard is 900. (Exceeding this limit will fail with the error
RPM-01014.) To increase this value, you must modify the

server.http.entity.maxLength

property in the

server.properties

file of the Device Manager server.

By increasing the value of

server.http.entity.maxLength

to 141,500 or greater, the limit on

the number of V-VOLs that can be created at one time for HP StorageWorks P9500 storage systems
is increased to 1,024.

For details about editing the

server.properties

file, see the HP P9000 Command View Advanced

Edition Suite Software Administrator Guide.
