Command device settings for virtual machines

The Replication Manager command device configuration function cannot be used to set a volume as
a command device if the volume has been allocated for a VMware virtual machine.

To set a command device for the virtual machine:

1.

Use Remote Web Console to set the volume as a command device.

2.

Use Remote Web Console to add the command device in (1) to a VMware host group and set
a path for the command device.

3.

Perform VMware Raw Device Mapping, and then make sure that the command device in (1) is
recognized by the virtual machine.

NOTE:

To link Replication Manager with the Device Manager agent running on a VMware ESX 4.x or ESXi
4.x guest OS, make sure that the Device Manager Agent and the Device Manager are version 7.0.1
or later.
