NOTE: If no route list has been defined, you can suppress the display of the LOAD Option
panel (that otherwise would be displayed after route list creation) by specifying a pre-selected
route list name of up to eight characters in this field.

Preset Route Label: Specify a route label to be used.
•
Remote DKC Function: Indicate the use of the Remote DKC Control Function (type Y).

Performing a Remote Scan
Perform a remote scan from the Discover HP Storage System panel.
Assigning a Dummy Device Number
Device numbers (DEVNs), which are recognized by the host, are not assigned to the devices in
the device configuration information acquired by a remote scan because the information is not on
the storage system connected to the host. Therefore, when the remote scan completes, the CU
Selection List for Edit devn panel is displayed to allow you to assign a dummy device number for
each scanned device.
NOTE: You can assign any dummy device number after the remote scan processing finishes.
However, keep in mind that the assigned dummy device number will be used, for example, in error
messages.
After a dummy device number is assigned, the Discover HP Storage System panel is displayed.

(page 636) .
Creating a logical path
When you define a path set with Business Continuity Manager, you create a path set definition
file. This is also called a path set.
You can group one or more inter-control unit logical paths and/or inter-disk controller logical paths
in a defined path set.
Definable units of a path set can be selected as required for operations and scripts. To avoid
performance problems, separate the paths between command devices from those used for copy
groups.
Valid approaches to definable units include the following:

Define logical paths for all storage systems in one path set
•
Define logical paths established from a storage system in one path set
•
Define logical paths used by a copy group in one path set
•
Create separate path sets for each path
•

Establishing a logical path
To establish, operate on, or status-check an inter-disk controller logical path from Business Continuity
Manager (using the logical path control function), you must define a path set and establish a logical
path.
