Demand-responsive hot-gas defrosting prevents unnecessary defrosting, which saves a
great deal of energy. This highly efficient defrosting method guarantees short defrosting
times of about 10 minutes. During defrosting, hot-gas released from the conventional
refrigeration cycle is used to defrost the iced evaporator. This keeps the temperature
increase inside Liebherr laboratory appliances to a minimum during defrosting, increas-
ing temperature stability and consistency.

Interior temperature increase during the hot-gas defrosting process:

Hot-gas defrosting: from 5 °C bis 6,5 °C = 1,5 K

Electric defrosting: from 5 °C bis 9,0 °C = 4,0 K

Condensate water from the refrigeration system is vaporised using excess and free
heat energy from the compressor. The intelligent design and layout of the Liebherr
vaporiser on the heavy-duty models is simple, corrosion-free and ultra-reliable and is
also highly energy-efficient.
