DIN stands for ‘Deutsches Institut für Normung’ (German Institute
for Standardization). The Institute’s specialist bodies define industry
standards. DIN 58345 relates to pharmaceutical refrigerators that

are used to store pharmaceuticals at an operating temperature of 2 °C to 8 °C. DIN
58345 currently reflects the latest technological advances and establishes precisely
formulated requirements in relation to pharmaceutical refrigerators.

Basic requirements established by DIN 58345:

Operating temperature: +2 °C to +8 °C

Usable in ambient temperatures of +10 °C to +35 °C

Noise emissions: < 60 dB(A))

Visual and acoustic warning system for high and low temperature alarm (min/
max thermometer)

Warning system for min. 12h in the event of a power cut
(power cut alarm device)

Safety thermometer for preventing freezing temperatures

Component mechanical load-bearing capacity

Lockable doorr

The MKv and MKUv models comply with DIN 58345. Conversely, all other Liebherr
laboratory refrigerators and freezers do not comply with DIN 58345.

Several models can be installed beneath
a worktop. In this case, a ventilation grill
with cross-section of at least 200 cm

2

is

required in the worktop for ventilation at
the rear of the appliance. If no ventilation
grill is going to be fitted in the worktop,
the recess height must be at least 860
mm to ensure sufficient heat dissipation
to the front. Under-worktop laboratory ap-
pliances offer a space-saving solution,
which is particularly suitable for use in
restricted spaces.

The appliances are factory-fitted with
door hinges on the right. Being able to
change the hinge side allows the appli-
ance to be positioned even more optimally
and tailored to individual requirements.

The Atex 95 certification certifies that Liebherr laboratory refrigerators
and freezers with explosion protection as defined by EU Directive 94/9/
EC (ATEX 95) are suitable for the storage of explosive and highly flam-
mable materials.

Most important precautions:

Interior free from ignition sources

No openings of the interior area to the exterior

Separate condensate dish for emptying the condensate in the interior

Interior components made from glass, plastic or with plastic coating

Metal parts with protective earth connection

No risk of sparks being formed against metal

Explosion protection: ATEX 95
