3.7.3

Amplitude Modulation

The internal amplitude modulation (

Figure 3-l

) can be enabled by pressing the ON/OFF button in the

AM submenu. For internal modulation, the modulation depth and rate can be set. The internal function

generator is used to provide the modulation signal. The shape can be set to sine or square.

Switching between internal and external amplitude modulation is possible.

3.7.4

Angle Modulation

The frequency and phase modulation settings can be accessed by selecting respective FM (frequency

modulation) or PM

(phase modulation) tabs (

Figure 3-m

). AC or DC coupling can be selected.

For external angle modulation, enter the desired sensitivity per Volt for either frequency or phase

modulation and press the ON/OFF button to enable (disable) the modulation. Connect the modulation

source to the rear BNC input.
