Alternative: Windows Explorer - on "Directory/file" level

Tip!
In case no (executable) controller is available, or if the controller does not start in a faultless

manner, the »Backup & Restore« functions can be executed via an Explorer (like for

example the Windows Explorer).
Only create a backup if the controller is executable.

How to carry out a backup using the Windows Explorer:

1. Insert a USB stick into an Engineering PC.
2. Start an Explorer.
3. Change to the directory: <USB stick>\Backup\Copy_Backup_file

Copy the Backup.xml file.

4. Store this file one folder higher: <USB stick>\Backup

Note: If there is a Restore.xml file in this directory it has to be deleted.

5. Applies to 3200 C/p500 controllers: Copy the menu.lst file from the <USB

stick>:\Backup\Copy_Backup_file

directory to the root directory of the USB stick.

<USB stick>:\

6. Connect the USB stick to the controller of which you want to create a backup.
7. Restart controller (with connected USB stick) by mains switching.

• Contollers in Windows CE systems are automatically restarted.
• The backup data are saved to the \Backup subdirectory on the USB stick after successful

write operation.

8. After the boot-up of the controller: Remove the USB stick from the controller.

Note!

For carrying out a backup with the Windows Explorer only USB sticks which have

previously been used for a »Backup & Restore« can be used.
