Repeated charging and use of batteries without calibration may result in inaccurate
fuel gauge information.

2.2.5 VFD Display

The VFD on the charger control panel allows graphics and alphanumeric characters to be
displayed. Through this display the user is supplied several important parameters and information
as to the status of the battery and the charger. There are several items here that are useful
information, such as reported percent capacity remaining, how many cycles the battery has
accumulated, time to fully charge, error and status codes. For a detailed explanation of error and
status codes see the Status Codes section.

The Display Brightness toggle switch controls the brightness of the VFD. Moving the switch in the
direction of longer bars on the label causes the display to get brighter. Conversely, moving the
switch in the direction of shorter bars on the label will cause the display to get dimmer and finally
turn OFF. The LED display remains active if the VFD display is turned off. The status fields are
described on a label on the top lid of the charger. This label is shown in Fig. 5 below for reference.

The following describes the VFD label fields

BATTERY STATUS

- Displays status codes pertaining to battery under charge

EST TIME TO CHG

- Displays the estimated time to full charge in minutes

CHARGE %

- Displays % charge present in battery under charge

CYCLE NO

- Displays the number of cycles completed by battery under charge

CHARGER STATUS

- Displays status codes pertaining to charger
