Pull hydrostatic lever
away from N/STOP
switch slot.
Turn key switch to
START position.
LISTEN: Engine must
NOT crank.
OK: GO TO

Sit on seat.
PTO switch OFF.
Hydrostatic lever in
N/STOP position.
Later Models; Depress
brake pedal(s).
Start engine and
operate at half throttle.
Move PTO switch to
ON position.
Raise off seat for 2—3
seconds.
LOOK/LISTEN: PTO
lamp must go OFF.
PTO clutch must
disengage.
Turn PTO switch OFF,
then ON to engage
PTO.
Raise off seat and
quickly sit back down
before one second
elapses.
LOOK/LISTEN: PTO
lamp and PTO clutch
must stay ON.
OK: GO TO
