Subjects Not Suitable for Autofocus
Autofocus may not work well in the following instances, and manual focus
will probably give you better results:
Shiny subjects or
Horizontally striped
subjects that reflect light subjects
More than one subject
in viewfinder/
different distances

Subjects behind glass
(windows with water or
dirt on them)
Dark subjects

contrast (a white wall,

when shooting using a

Notes:
• Do not touch focusing ring during autofocus.
• Shooting subjects at a distance of less than 1 metre while using autofocus may result in poor picture quality. Be
sure to use adequate lighting in this situation.
• Under the following conditions it will take longer for autofocusing;
— When you are focused on a subject further than 1.2 metres, and quickly change to focus on a subject within
the tele-macro range (0.6—1.2 metres).
— When you are focused on a subject within the tele-macro range (0.6—1.2 metres), and quickly change to
focus on a subject at a further distance.
— When shooting rapidly moving subjects within the tele-macro range (0.6—1.2 metres).
• When the focused subject only occupies a small area within the autofocus zone, autofocusing may take longer.
Change framing so the subject occupies a larger area within the autofocus zone.
