3. Select one of the two options:

Record and Capture: Extend the recording capacity of the DVR.

Export: Backup data onto an eSATA backup device.

Note: If the external storage device is part of the total internal capacity of the
DVR, then it is no longer available for backing up video.

4. Click Apply.

Configuring overwrite

You can select how the DVR responds when the HDDs become full and there is
no longer sufficient space to save new data.

To configure for overwrite when the HDDs are full:

1. Click the

Video Schedule

icon in the menu toolbar.

2. Select

More

Settings.

3. Under

Overwrite

, select

Yes

.

Defining a recording schedule

Defining a recording schedule lets you specify when the DVR records video and
under what circumstances. Each camera can be configured to have its own
recording schedule.

The schedules are visually presented on a map for easy reference. See
Figure 35 below for an example.

1. Camera. Select a camera.

2. Schedule time. Represents the 24-hour cycle during which a schedule is selected.

3. Schedule day. There are seven days to select: Sunday (Sun), Monday (Mon), Tuesday

(Tue), Wednesday (Wed), Thursday, (Thu), Friday (Fri), and Saturday (Sat).

4. Recording type. There are five recording types to select, which are color-coded:
