the controller.

Checking Software

This contains information on:

Checking errors (sense codes) reported by your software

Making sure that the appropriate software drivers have been installed

Sense Codes

The tape drive will report a sense code when it detects a hardware, firmware,
or media problem. A sense code consists of six hexadecimal characters, for
example: 03 31 00.

See below for information on how to display sense codes in specific software
environments.

Interpreting sense codes is beyond the scope of this guide. If your drive has
reported a sense code, contact Compaq on 1-800-OK-COMPAQ to obtain
suggestions for corrective action.
