The system “hangs” (a
blank screen appears
and the OS will not load)
at the POST/start up.

You have disabled AHCI mode in the BIOS. If you have installed the Windows Vista operating
system with AHCI mode enabled (default setting), DO NOT disable AHCI mode (if you wish to
disable AHCI mode you will need to reinstall the Windows VIsta OS). To correct this problem
press F2 at startup to enter the BIOS, enable AHCI mode, and then save the setting (see

“SATA

Mode Selection (Advanced Menu)” on page 5 - 9

).

Make sure you have selected the appropriate O/S for your system in the BIOS e.g. Windows
Vista/Windows XP
etc. Setting the incorrect O/S can also cause the system to “hang” (see

“Installed O/S (Advanced Menu)” on page 5 - 9

).

The Hibernate function
has disappeared.

You have a computer with 4GB of RAM and have installed Windows Vista Service Pack 1. This
is a known issue if your computer has 4GB of RAM and is running Windows Vista Service Pack
1
. To re-enable Hibernate mode go to the Command Prompt and type the command “powercfg
-h on
” (make sure you are logged on as an Administrator):

1.

Click Start

(menu

button).

2.

Type “cmd” in the Start Search box

.

3.

Double click the Command Prompt

when it appears in the menu.

4.

Type “powercfg -h on” in the Command Prompt window.

5.

Close the Command Prompt window.

6.

The Hibernate function will now be enabled.
