DISASSEMBLY

Before beginning installation, replace all
spark plugs with NGKZFR6F-11
(follow
the procedures indicated within the factory
repair manual and/or as indicated on the fac-
tory underhood emissions tag). Do not use
platinum spark plugs.
Change spark plugs
at least every 15,000 miles and spark plug
wires at least every 50,000 miles.

Remove the small clip retaining the crank
case breather hose to the upper air filter
housing and remove the hose. (See Fig.
1-d.
)

A.

Using a 5/16" nut driver or a flat blade
screw driver, loosen the hose clamp securing
the inlet duct to the throttle body. (See Fig.
1-a
.)

B.

Locate the intake air temp sensor on the side
of the intake air duct and remove the plug.
(See Fig. 1-b.)

C.

After removing the air inlet duct, remove the
two spring clips retaining the air filter cover
housing. Remove the air filter from the
housing. (See Fig. 1-c.)

(Please note that before any work is performed,
disconnect the battery positive and negative termi-
nals)

Remove the rubber inlet duct from the throt-
tle body. Lift the duct and upper portion of
the air-filter cover out of the vehicle and set
aside. It will not be reused.
