HYDRAULICS

The hydraulic system on your Progressive mower is a simple cylinder system
used to raise and lower the cutting decks into position. Each cylinder contains a
small diameter restrictor orifice, which is located on the rod end to slow the
speed of travel.

Restrictor Orifice

When reconnecting the quick disconnects to the tractor, be sure that both ends are
clean. Dirt in the hydraulic system can block the orifice in the line throttle valve or
even score the cylinder tubes.

Hydraulic fluid escaping under pressure has enough force to penetrate the skin. See a
doctor at once if injured by escaping fluid. During your daily inspection repair all
leaks before they create a major problem. Relieve all pressure before working on, or
disconnecting the line in the hydraulic system.

If crimp-on hose ends are ever changed, be sure they are compatible with the hose, to
provide the proper crimping pressure.
