Dial Backup

Parameters

The Dial Backup Parameters screen (Figure 4-12) allows you to configure the DBU
port.

The Dial Backup functionality supported by the PRISM 3111/3112 allows for an
external connection to be made guaranteeing data integrity for Port 1 in the event
the T1 NET interface detects certain alarm conditions. The alarm thresholds for the
different parameters are sent in the Alarm Configuration menu. The DBU
configuration may be set to look for any one or two parameters to go into alarm
condition. This is set in the Activator fields. Upon detection of the alarm condition,
the unit will attempt to establish a DBU connection with the specified parameters.

You can enable the DBU functionality by selecting two of the eight available alarm
indicators or by selecting Any. These parameters can be any one of nine errors
(LOS, ES, SES, UAS, LOF, RAS, AIS, BPV or Any).

These parameters allow you to establish pre-defined thresholds (set in the Alarm
Parameters screen) and initiate dial backup when these thresholds are exceeded.
See Alarm Configuration on page 61 to set the threshold parameters.
