Installation
The installation procedure in Table 2-1 is organized so that if you need to open the RASFinder
enclosure to install additional RAM, you do this before you connect your cables. Table 2-2 provides
procedures on how to add additional RAM.
The installation procedure provides the cable connections for up to three WANs, two types of
connections for your Ethernet, a short adapter cable to connect to your PC for software loading, and
finally your power connection.

Step Procedure
1 If one of the links needs to be changed to a V.35 interface, perform the procedures in Table 2-2.
2 If additional RAM is needed, perform the procedures in Table 2-3.

3 Connect the RASFinder to a PC using the short RJ45 to DB25 (female) cable provided with your
unit. Plug the RJ45 end of the cable into the Command Port of the RASFinder and the other end into
the PC's serial port or RS232 cable from the PC serial port. See Figure 2-2.
4 To make the network connection, connect either an RJ45 (UTP) cable to the 10 BASE-T connector
(shown in Figure 2-2), or a Coax (BNC) cable to the 10 BASE-2 connector on the back of the
RASFinder. Connect the other end of the cable to your LAN.
5 Connect one end of an RJ11 cable to each of the LINK Connectors on the RASFinder (labeled LINK
1, LINK 2, and LINK 3) and connect the other end to the phone jacks (as shown in Figure 2-2).
6 Connect one end of the power supply to a live AC outlet, then connect the other end to the
RASFinder as shown in Figure 2-2. The power connector is a 6-pin circular DIN connector.
7 Turn on power to the RASFinder by setting the ON/OFF switch on the back panel to the ON position.
At this time your RASFinder is completely cabled. Proceed to the next section to load the MultiRouter
software.
