No sound or only a very low-level
sound is heard from the surround
speakers.

• Check the speaker connections and settings (pages 23, 96).
• Check the “DEC. MODE” setting (page 63).
• Depending on the source, the effect of the surround speakers may be less

noticeable.

• Wireless setting of the speaker is not correct.
• A 2 channel source is being played.

The beginning of the sound is cut off. • Set the Sound mode to other than “AUTO” (page 65).

• Set the decoding mode to other than “A.F.D. MULTI” (page 63).

No sound is heard or sound is cut off. • The S-AIR main unit and/or the surround amplifier is installed in a place

such as on a metal shelf.

• Wireless LANs, a microwave (oven) and Bluetooth applications, etc. are

placed near the surround amplifier.

• Move away the other components from the surround amplifier or turn off

the other components.

Radio stations cannot be tuned in.

• Check that the antenna (aerial) is connected securely. Adjust the antenna

(aerial) or connect an external antenna (aerial) if necessary.

• The signal strength of the stations is too weak (when tuning in with

automatic tuning). Use direct tuning.

• No stations have been preset or the preset stations have been cleared

(when tuning by scanning preset stations). Preset the stations (page 67).

• Press DISPLAY so that the frequency appears in the front panel display.

The remote does not function.

• There are obstacles between the remote and the control unit.
• The distance between the remote and the control unit is too far.
• The remote is not pointed at the remote sensor on the control unit.
• The batteries in the remote are weak.

A disc does not play.

• There is no disc inserted.
• The disc is upside down.

Insert the disc with the playback side facing down.

• The system cannot play CD-ROMs, etc. (page 7).
• The region code on the DVD does not match the system.
• Moisture has condensed inside the control unit and may cause damage to

the lenses. Remove the disc and leave the control unit turned on for about
half an hour.

• The disc is not written properly.
• The disc is dirty or flawed.
