TFTP

Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) is an Internet software utility for

transferring files that is simpler to use than the File Transfer Protocol

(FTP) but less capable. It is used where user authentication and directory

visibility are not required. TFTP uses the User Datagram Protocol (UDP)

rather than the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).

TLS

Transport Layer Security, a protocol that guarantees privacy and data

integrity between applications communicating over the Internet.

UNIX

A 32-bit multi-tasking, multi-user operating system originally developed

by AT&T.

URL

Uniform Resource Locator. A way of specifying the location of

information on the Internet.

USB

Universal Serial Bus.

WAN

Wide Area Network.

WEP

Wired Equivalent Privacy - a protocol that provides security and privacy

by encrypting data transmitted over the WLAN.

WINS

Windows Internet Name Service. A NetBIOS Name Server that maps

NetBIOS names to dynamically assigned IP addresses.

Wizard

A special form of user assistance that automates a task through a dialog

with the user. Wizards help the user to accomplish tasks that are complex

and require experience, and even for the experienced user can help to

speed up an operation.

WLAN

Wireless Local Area Network - A local area network (LAN) to which a

mobile user can connect wirelessly.
