3-1 Stand-Alone Operation
Stand-alone operation of your SmartDup CD Duplicator is designed for easy
duplication of CDs without tying up your computer. The following section describes
the setup and operation of the SmartDup in stand-alone mode.
3-1.1 Power Switch
The rocker power switch has three settings:
• Pressing the top of the switch (==) turns the duplicator ON for stand-alone mode.
• Set in middle neutral position (O) turns the duplicator OFF.
• Pressing the bottom of the switch (–) turns the duplicator ON for
PC interface mode.
3-1.2 Upgrading the SmartDup Firmware
To achieve best performance of your SmartDup CD Duplicator, it is important
that the CD-R/RW brand/model number & SmartDup firmware version number
is compatible. Refer to pages 4-5 and the ViPowER web site
www.vipower.com
to download the latest version of firmware (if needed). The current firmware version
of the SmartDup is automatically displayed during operation of the SmartDup.
See the following sections. If the firmware needs to be upgraded, refer to appendix
section A-1: Firmware Upgrade for further instructions.
