The VOICE port is terminated with an RJ-11 socket. If

your telephone equipment uses a different connector,

you will need to obtain a suitable convertor to connect

to the VOICE port. A British Telecom to RJ11 convertor is

supplied with UK models fitted with a Voice port.

A dial tone is not provided to the handset if the ISDN

line is not operational or has been disconnected.

Connecting a Management Terminal

Connect the Serial Manager cable to the Serial

Manager port (marked Serial). Connect the other

end to the serial COM port on your PC workstation.

When you have connected a management terminal,

you can configure the Office Connect Remote to

communicate with the remote site(s). See

“Quick

Configuration”

overleaf.

Location of OfficeConnect Fax and Print

Servers

If you are connecting the OfficeConnect Fax Server or

Print Server to the OfficeConnect Remote, you must

configure these units to operate with local servers

only. If you do not do this, unnecessary ISDN calls are

made, caused by the fax or print server polling the fax

or print queue on remote servers at regular intervals

(between once every 30 seconds to once a minute).
