DEAR CUSTOMER:
To obtain o p t i m u m p e r f o r m a n c e f r o m your BANKS tur b o c h a r g e r
s y s t e m , it is n ec e s s a r y to m a k e an a d j u s t m e n t to the fuel
i n j e c t i o n p u m p . This a d j u s t m e n t is easily m a d e by following the
enclosed i n s t r u c t i o n s . H o w e v e r , it is e x t r e m e l y i mportant that the
instructions be followed v e r y c a r e f u l l y . Before st a r t i n g the
injection pump a d j u s t m e n t p r o c e d u r e , please note the following:
The engine must be C.OL_D ( p r e f e r a b l y o v e r n i g h t ) before starting
the i n j e c t i o n p u m p a d j u s t m e n t p r o c e d u r e . DO NOT_ a ttempt to
turn the engine ov e r or a d j u s t the i n j e c t i o n p u m p while the
engine is w a r m .
To gain access to the i n j e c t i o n p u m p a d j u s t i n g s c r e w , it is
necessary to rotate the e n g i n e c r a n k s h a f t , so that the sc rew
is properly p o s i t i o n e d . As noted in the i n s t r u c t i o n s , the
crankshaft is r ot ated by h a n d , IN THE CLOCKWISE DI R E C T I O N
O N L Y , by turning the v i b r a t i o n d a m p e r m o u n t i n g bolt using an
appropriate s o c k e t , extension and breaker b a r . ( O n some late
m o d e l t r u c k s it may be n e c e s s a r y to r e m o v e the front
crankshaft pulley to gain a c c e s s to the v i b r a t i o n d a m p e r
b o l t . ) DO NOT ROTAT E THE C R A N K S H A F T USING THE S T A R T E R , for
any r e a s o n . Even thou gh the fuel solenoid is d e - e n e r g i z e d ,
the engine can still s t a r t . This is e x t r e m e l y hazardou s and
can result in both s e v e r e personal i n j u r y and m a j o r mechanical
d a m a g e . Agai n when making the i n j e c t i o n pump a d j u s t m e n t , DO
NOT ROTAT E THE C R A N K S H A F T WITH THE S T A R T E R .
3 . If y o u r e m o v e d the f r o n t c r a n k s h a f t p u l l e y to g a i n a c c e s s to the
v i b r a t i o n d a m p e r b o l t , be s u r e to r e i n s t a l l the p u l l e y ( a n d
b e l t s ) b e f o r e s t a r t i n g t h e e n g i n e .
