Operation

SIP 10 setup

When a SIP 10 module is connected to the photometer, an additional
SIPPER button is shown in the toolbar.
1.

Press SIPPER on the toolbar.
A Sipper options menu opens.

2.

Press ON to modify the settings for a Sipper cycle.

SIP TIME: The sip time determines the sample volume that is

pumped through the cell.

In order to make sure that all of the liquid is replaced in the

Dual Path Length Pour-Thru Cell, 1 inch/1 cm, the minimum

time is 25 seconds.

Default setting: 25 seconds The flow rate is 1 mL/sec.

Note: If you use other Pour-Thru Cells, the SIP time must be
determined individually. One method to determine this is to use two
solutions with different concentrations and measure the absorbance
continuously.

SETTLE TIME: The settle time defines the duration of the

standstill phase between the pump process and measurement

process. During this time, air bubbles that have formed during

the pump process can escape and sample turbulence can

cease.

Default setting: 5 seconds

PURGE TIME: The purge time determines the volume of rinse

agent that is pumped through the cell after each measurement.

This additional purging can be deactivated.

Default setting: off

PURGE START: The start of the purge time can be triggered

automatically after the measurement process, or manually. To

start the cycle manually, press PURGE to trigger the purge

cycle.

Default setting: auto

Note: The PURGE START button is only active when the purge
time setting is ON.

3.

Configure the required settings and press OK to confirm.

Execution of a stored program

1.

Access the required test via STORED PROGRAMS.

2.

Place the feed tube in the zero solution and press ZERO.
The zero solution is pumped in according to the selected SIP time.
Once the settle time has passed, the zero measurement is taken.
Note: The remaining time is shown on the display. Press CANCEL
to stop the operation.

Note: If the PURGE START: AUTO setting has been activated in
the Sipper options menu, the rinse agent is pumped in automatically
after measurement.
