Internet Information Services (IIS)

Internet Information Services (IIS) is a Windows component that your
batch application database uses to communicate with the main IntelliTrack
workstation database. IIS is included with Windows XP Professional, Win-
dows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008.
IIS must be properly setup and configured before the SQL Server and the
SQL CE databases will communicate. This includes creating IIS dependen-
cies. Furthermore, if you use Window Vista or Windows 7/IIS v7.0, you
must turn on IIS and specific settings BEFORE installing ISRP. Please
refer to “Required IIS Settings for Windows Vista and Windows 7” on
page 19. If
you use Windows Server 2008/IIS 7, you must install IIS and
specific role services BEFORE installing ISRP, please see “Batch Installa-
tion Prerequisites for Windows Server 2008” on page 21.

Important: You must install or turn on IIS BEFORE installing the Intelli-
Track workstation. IIS will only accept connections if it can locate an
active network connection. If your computer does not have a network
adapter, you must install and configure one or IIS will not work. In addi-

you must connect your network card to a network or to a hub or switch,
even if that hub or switch is not connected to anything else. Please see your
network administrator if you have questions about the network connection
status on your computer.

Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center
Software

Depending on your operating system, you will use either Microsoft Active-
Sync or Windows Mobile Device Center Software for PC-handheld device
communication.

Microsoft ActiveSync is used by Windows XP and Windows Server 2003
for PC and device communication. It must be installed on the same PCs
where the portables will be connected and it must be configured to allow
the portable to gain access to the network. Before installing the ISRP Batch
application on the handheld device, make sure that Microsoft ActiveSync
