Overview

The Check In-Out RF versions integrate the Check In-Out workstation
application database with a RF Server application and RF portable devices.
Version 8.1 of Check In-Out RF Server enables you to enter, adjust and
move inventory from an RF portable device. You are also able to send
messages between the portables and the Check In-Out RF Server PC appli-
cation.

Pre-
Installation
Procedures

Important: The RF network settings MUST BE in place in order for the
Check In-Out RF application to run on the portable(s). Make sure that you
can “ping” your portable from the PC that will be running the WMS RF
Server application. If you are unsure of your RF network settings, CON-
TACT your network administrator to determine your RF network settings.

When establishing your RF network settings on the RF portable device,
you will need to know the following information.

Note: For best results, we recommend that portable devices be assigned
static IP addresses rather than using a DHCP configuration.

1.

Specify the connection parameters and network options:
What is the Check In-Out RF Server address?
If you do not use a DHCP server to administer IP addresses, obtain the
range of available IP addresses to use for the portable device and have
these addresses handy (you will have to provide the IP address you
have chosen for the handheld when configuring the handheld for Check
In-Out RF use.)
What is the operating system of the DMS Check In-Out RF Server
location?

2.

Specify the security parameters:
If you are using the Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) for your portable,
you must set the WEP keys.

3.

Specify the service set identifier (SSID).

4.

Ping the portable to verify RF connectivity.
