TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Check that power supply is adequate and that compressor is on a
dedicated circuit

Low voltage/motor overload

Furnish adequate power.

Low voltage to motor

Contact authorized service center.

Siezed pump

Tighten or replace leaking fittings or connections. Do not
overtighten.

Air leaks

Contact authorized service center.

Leaking valves

Clean or replace air filter element(s)

Restricted air intake

Contact authorized service center.

Blown gaskets

Contact authorized service center.

Worn piston rings or cylinder

Contact authorized service center.

Worn connector rod at wrist pin
end

Keep oil at proper level at all times.

Low oil level in pump crankcase

Replace worn parts and reassemble with new seals.

Excess carbon on valves or top
of piston

Contack authorized service center.

Worn piston rings or cylinder

Clean or replace the air filter element(s).

Restricted air intake

Reduce to proper level. Use non-detergent oil.

Oil level too high

Clean all cooling surfaces thoroughly.

Dirty cooling surfaces

Realign pulley with compressor flywheel.

Pulley out of alignment

Readjust.

Improper belt tension

Replace the pulley and check for a damaged crankshaft or flywheel

Pulley wobbles

SOLUTION

POSSIBLE CAUSE

Excessive current draw
trips circuit breaker of
motor reset switch

Compressor stalls

Low discharge pressure

Compressor pump
knocking

Oil in discharge air

Overheating

Excessive belt wear

Open petcock when starting motor.

Too much back pressure in tank

Move compressor to a warmer location.

Compressor too cold

Compressor won’t start
in cold temperatures

Contact authorized service center.

Intake valve to high pressure
cylinder is plugged

Low pressure (75 psi)
pressure relief valve
opens

Clean or replace the check valve.

Check valve blocked

High pressure (225 psi)
pressure relief valve
opens

Relocate compressor to an area with cool, dry well circulated air,
at least 12 in. from nearest wall.

Poor ventilation
