The GALAXY endpoint is shipped in a dormant, non-transmitting condition .

Smart Tctivation

Smart Activation starts the endpoint broadcasting metering data once the encoder registers the first unit of water . Therefore,

no field programming or special tools are necessary at installation . When wiring to a Badger Meter HR E-LCD, HR-E, ADE or

E-Series meter (ADE or High Resolution) or to an approved competitive encoder, Smart Activation may take up to twelve

hours based on encoder interrogation frequency . Once activated a GALAXY endpoint will interrogate the encoder for its

reading on an hourly basis .

NOTE:

N

Refer to the GALAXY Endpoint Programming Manual, available at

www.badgermeter.com

, for detailed endpoint

programming instructions, including how to perform a system check by forcing a transmission .

To verify the endpoint is active, use a radio scanner tuned to the frequency for the GALAXY endpoint (found on the endpoint

label) . Once programmed to a utility's frequency, the radio scanner hears the RF broadcast from the GALAXY endpoint .

Wiring the Endpoint to an Encoder

The GALAXY endpoint may be factory wired to a Badger Meter endpoint with up to 75 feet of wire . Three to ten feet of wire is

standard . The endpoint and the encoder can also be shipped separately and connected at installation .

NOTE:

N

The encoder must be programmed to communicate using Sensus protocol, three-wire mode .

For those connections that are not factory wired, splicing is required . Splice connections require a field splice kit, which can be

ordered separately . When using the Badger Meter Field Splice Kit (62084-001), refer to the document that comes with the kit,

Field Splice Kit for Badger Meter AMR/AMI Products, for complete wiring instructions, or refer to the manufacturer's instructions

of the field splice kit that is being used .

NOTE:

N

The document Field Splice Kit for Badger Meter AMR/AMI Products is also available at

www.badgermeter.com

.
