Processor and fan module option

When one processor is installed, install fan blanks in slots 1, 2, and 5. When two processors are installed,

install fans in slots 2 and 5; always install a fan blank in slot 1.
The server supports single-processor or dual-processor operation.

CAUTION:

To avoid damage to the processor and system board, only authorized personnel

should attempt to replace or install the processor in this server.

CAUTION:

To prevent possible server malfunction and damage to the equipment, multiprocessor

configurations must contain processors with the same part number.

IMPORTANT:

If installing a processor with a faster speed, update the system ROM before

installing the processor.

CAUTION:

To help prevent the processor pins from bending, do not reset, swap, or exchange

the processor.

To install a processor:

1.

Power down the server (on page

).

2.

Do one of the following:

Extend the server from the rack (on page

Remove the server from the rack (on page

).

3.

Remove the access panel (on page

).

4.

Remove the processor air baffle (on page

20

).

CAUTION:

The pins on the processor socket are very fragile. Any damage to them may require

replacing the system board.
