• The ventilation at the rear of the storage array is not blocked by any object.

• All of the fans are working correctly.

3. Remove and reinstall the fan assembly. Replace the fan assembly if necessary.

4. If the system error LED is lit in amber, ensure that the rear I/O module is connected to the server

correctly. Remove and reinstall the rear I/O module if necessary.

Symptom:

The management software on the server cannot detect the hard disk drives installed in the storage array
after connecting the storage array to the server.

Actions:

1. Ensure that the rear I/O module and power supply work correctly.

2. Ensure that the drives installed in the storage array are the correct type. The drives installed in the front

must be 3.5-inch hot-swap SAS hard disk drives. The drives installed in the rear must be 2.5-inch
hot-swap SATA solid-state drives.

3. Check the drive-status LEDs. If the LED is lit in amber, remove and reinstall the drive or install the drive

to another drive bay. Replace the faulty drive if necessary. See “Installing or replacing a hot-swap
drive” on page 33
.

4. Test the function of the slots on the backplane. If the slots are faulty, seek technical assistance. See

Chapter 8 “Getting information, help, and service” on page 63.

Symptom:

When more than one storage array is connected to a server in cascading mode, the server only can detect
the first-level storage array but cannot detect some of the other storage arrays.

Actions:

1. Check the status LEDs of the storage arrays for any potential system errors.

2. Ensure that the first-level storage array is connected to the server correctly.

3. Ensure that all of the storage arrays are connected to one another correctly.

4. Check the SAS-connector-status LEDs. Replace the SAS signal cables if necessary.

5. If none of these actions solve the problem, seek technical assistance. See Chapter 8 “Getting

information, help, and service” on page 63.
