THE ADAPTER HOUSING IS BULKY AND HEAVY. BE PREPARED AS THE
SCREWS ARE REMOVED OR REQUEST AN ADDITIONAL PERSON ASSIST TO
PREVENT INJURY.

Servicing the Input Shaft

See Section 6b: RSD Gearbox, heading “Input Shaft and Gear Assembly”
on page 95.

Replacing the Oil Seal

The oil seal is located in the flywheel housing adapter. To replace:

1.

Press out the existing seal from the flywheel adapter housing bore and
discard.

2.

Insert a new seal, centered within the bore. (See Figure 6c-2: “RSD
Engine Drive Option,” on page 100.)

Installation Notes - Engine Mounting

See WARNING ! note found on page 68.

Exercise care when inserting the input shaft through the flywheel
housing and the elastomeric drive disc. DO NOT damaged the oil seal
and ensure proper alignment.

When installing the flywheel housing adapter to the gearbox, make
sure the correct screws are installed (two sets of four of different
lengths). (See Figure 6c-2: “RSD Engine Drive Option,” on page 100.)

Apply Loctite #242 to all screws and tighten in a criss-cross pattern to
ensure an EVEN seal. Refer to Table 6-1:“Typical Torque Values
Chart” on page 69 f
or recommended torque value.

Inspect the system for proper operation before returning the apparatus
to service.
