You can set preferences so that the Newton Press application creates books
in the easiest and most convenient way for you. You can use preference
settings to:
m specify the folder in which your book packages will be saved
m specify whether file names are added to a book’s table of contents when

you import a file

m specify whether a book package is automatically downloaded to a Newton

PDA after you create it

m specify how fonts will be used and whether you are notified about fonts

that are substituted automatically when you import a document that has
fonts not used by a Newton PDA

m specify whether Newton Press buttons appear at the bottom or right side of

the Newton Press screen

m specify how the computer and Newton PDA are connected, whether by

network, modem port, or printer port

m turn on Newton Sound effects so that you can hear the sounds readers of

your book will hear as they view the book
