To have the Font Substitution dialog box appear each time a decision about
font substitution is required:
m

Select the “Ask about font substitution” option.

If you want fonts substitution done without notifying you, deselect the “Ask
about Font Substitution” option (no X in checkbox).

The Macintosh keyboard produces quotation marks for both opening and
closing double quotation marks (") and single quotation marks ('). You can set
the Newton Press application to automatically use curly opening and closing
quotation marks (“ ” or ‘ ’) as you type.

To use curly quotation marks in a book:
m

Click the Smart Quotes option until an X appears.

To set the font and font size of text for each new book:
m

Select the font and font size you want from the Font and Size pop-up menus.

Each new book you start is preset to use your font selections.

Viewing preferences

You specify whether the buttons on the Newton Press screen appear at the
bottom or the right side of the window. If you use a portable computer with
a small screen, you may find it more convenient to display the buttons on
the right.

To set viewing preferences:
m

Click the “Buttons on bottom” or “Buttons on right” button.
