In this operating manual, the term “skilled person” refers to:
1st Persons whose training, knowledge and practical experience guarantees that
they are in a position to carry out tests in the correct manner.
2nd Persons who possess the required responsibility and reliability.
3rd Persons who are authorised to carry out testing.
4th Persons who, where necessary, are in possession of suitable testing devices.
5th Persons who can document that they are in possession of the requirements
cited in point 1 above.
The operation of pressure containers is regulated by national directives, standards
and regulations.
Operators of pressure vessels are required to keep these vessels in good condition,
operate them correctly, test them correctly, carry out the necessary servicing and
maintenance and to take the necessary safety precautions.
A pressure vessel must not be operated when it is faulty or where it can cause a
hazard to the operator or third parties. The European Pressure Equipment Directive
is available from the publishers Carl Heymanns Verlag and Beuth Verlag.
