PROBLEM

PROBABLE CAUSE

SOLUTION

Burner will not light

No Ignition

Gas supply valve may be in

OFF position

No power to heater


Air in gas supply system.

Orifice blocked


Igniter cracked, bent/or not in

the correct position to ignite.

Turn the gas valve ON

Turn on Power to 24Vac transformer
Check for 24Vac at transformer .
Check for 24Vac at heater connection.
Check 24Vac to ignition control
Check for loose wire or bad connection.

Purge air from lines.

Check for spider or obstruction in Orifice.
Clean or replace orifice.

Visibly check Igniter for good spark.
Check if spark Igniter is shorting out from

the porcelain to ground.
Check Igniter gap setting is approx 3/16” .

Burner will not stay lit

Sensor cracked, bent/or out of

position.
Spark does not stop when

Burner lights .

Check burner flame is ‘covering’ Sensor.
Repair or replace Sensor.
Control is not sensing the flame
Check grounding and all connections.
Replace ignition control

Low Burner flame

Gas pressure is low

Spider web or insect cocoon

Check gas pressures with manometer.

Check for restricted or plugged orifice.
