Introduction, Inspection and Storage
Manual Objectives The purpose of this manual is to provide the user with the necessary
information to install, program, start up and maintain the 1350A and
2250A version of the 1395 DC Drive. This manual should be read in its
entirety before operating, servicing or initializing the 1395 Drive. This
manual must be consulted first, as it will reference other 1395 manuals
for troubleshooting or option initialization.
Who Should Use This Manual This manual is intended for qualified service personnel responsible for
setting up and servicing the 1395 DC Drive. You must have previous
experience with and a basic understanding of electrical terminology,
programming procedures, required equipment and safety precautions, as
typical applications will consist of a properly rated DC motor, with or
without feedback based on performance requirements, a line impedance
device (line reactor or isolation transformer) and the 1395. A
programming terminal is required to set up the drive and for enhanced
monitoring and diagnostics.
ATTENTION: Only personnel familiar with the 1395
Drive and the associated machinery should plan or
implement the installation, start-up, and subsequent
maintenance of the Drive. Failure to comply may result in
personal injury and/or equipment damage.
ATTENTION: An incorrectly applied or installed Drive
can result in component damage or a reduction in product
life. Wiring or application errors such as undersizing the
motor, incorrect or inadequate AC supply or excessive
ambient temperatures may result in damage to the Drive or
motor.
ATTENTION: This Drive contains ESD (Electrostatic
Discharge sensitive parts and assemblies. Static control
precautions are required when installing, testing, servicing
or repairing this assembly. Component damage may result
if ESD control procedures are not followed. If you are not
familiar with static control procedures, reference
Allen-Bradley Publication 8000-4.5.2, Guarding against
Electrostatic Damage or any other applicable ESD
protection handbook.
Chapter Objective Chapter 1 in addition to detailing drive features and specifications, also
supplies the information needed to unpack, properly inspect and if
necessary, store the 1395 Drive.
