value from a worksheet to a FactoryTalk Historian server. The Excel
macro function PIPutVal() (page 146) replaces an existing FactoryTalk
Historian archive event with a matching time stamp with a new value
supplied by the user.

Note that VBA does not recognize FactoryTalk Historian DataLink
functions, but you can formulate a function as a text string, and then set the
formula Array property of a range of cells to the text string value. The
VBA code can then check the cell values for the FactoryTalk Historian
function results. This yields the same results as manual entry of
FactoryTalk Historian functions in the same range of cells.

Troubleshooting

Consult the sections below if you experience difficulty using FactoryTalk
Historian DataLink . If these topics do not address or solve the problem,
see Technical Support and Resources (page 149) for details on contacting
Technical Support.

FactoryTalk Historian Menu Not Available

If a FactoryTalk Historian menu does not appear after you install
FactoryTalk Historian DataLink, you may need to manually configure the
add-in for Excel, or reduce security settings (page 108) for add-ins.

Some user-written VBA scripts in Excel spreadsheets (or add-ins) have
been known to reset the main Excel menu. In such cases, the FactoryTalk
Historian menu may disappear even though the FactoryTalk Historian
DataLink add-in is still loaded, and embedded FactoryTalk Historian
DataLink array functions may work even though the FactoryTalk Historian
menu itself is not available. Restarting Excel usually fixes this problem.
