For comprehensive information about FactoryTalk Activation services, on the
FactoryTalk ViewPoint Server computer, click Start > All Programs >
Rockwell Software > FactoryTalk Activation > FactoryTalk Activation

Assigning licenses to the FactoryTalk ViewPoint Server

1. Connect to FactoryTalk ViewPoint Administration. To learn how, see page 24.

2. On the

Activation

page, in the field

Number of licenses to assign

(shown in

the next illustration), type the number of licenses needed, and then click

Apply

.

What happens if the activation server is unavailable?

If the FactoryTalk Activation server is unavailable or unable to provide FactoryTalk
ViewPoint licenses, the FactoryTalk ViewPoint Server will provide three temporary
licenses to connecting web browsers, for up to seven days.

To resume normal operations, before the seven-day grace period expires, ensure that
the activation server can provide the necessary licenses.

After the grace period expires, as soon as you restart the FactoryTalk ViewPoint
Server, no web browsers will be able to view the published web application.

These fields indicate
how many ViewPoint
licenses the
activation server can
provide.

To assign more or fewer
licenses to the server,
type the desired
number, and then click
Apply.

This field indicates
how many browsers
are connected to the
ViewPoint server.
