7. Click Run Application to start the project. For more information on loading and

running an application, see the PanelView Plus Terminal’s User Manual. The
FactoryTalk ViewPoint client About menu contains information about the
application version of ViewPoint content within a .MER file.

To learn more about creating and securing access to a Machine Edition web
application, see the FactoryTalk ViewPoint Help.

Connecting to an existing Machine Edition
web application

You can connect to an existing FactoryTalk ViewPoint Machine Edition application
from any computer running a supported web browser.

All you need is the computer name or IP address of the PanelView Plus or PanelView
Plus Pro operator terminal running the FactoryTalk ViewPoint Server for the
application.

To learn about optimal settings for web client computers, see “Setting up web client
computers”.

To connect to a FactoryTalk ViewPoint Machine Edition application:

1. Open a web browser, and then enter this address:

http://TerminalName/FTVP

where TerminalName is the IP address of the PanelView Plus operator terminal.

2. The initial display selected for the web application should open.

3. If you receive a prompt to install Microsoft Silverlight 4, and your client

computer is connected to the Internet, perform the following steps.

If your client computer is not connected to the Internet, you receive a message
with instructions on how to get and install Silverlight on the client.

Only one web browser can connect to the FactoryTalk ViewPoint Server on a
PanelView Plus or PanelView Plus Pro operator terminal at a time.

The user installing Microsoft Silverlight 4 must have administrative rights in
Windows. If you have problems, contact your System Administrator or try logging
on to Windows as a different user.
