ADJUSTING DRILLING DEPTH
• The Depth Adjustment Gauge (8) enables you to set a

drilling depth of 0 - 38mm (0-1

" on US model)

• Whenever drill bits are changed or new bits fitted, the

Zero Indicator (7) and Depth Gauge (8) must be zeroed.

See ‘Zeroing the depth gauge’ for guidance.

• Use the scale on the guide to set the required depth
1. Loosen the Depth Adjustment Gauge Locking Knob (6)

so that the depth adjustment gauge can slide back and

forth

2. Position the gauge so that the required depth

(on the scale) is aligned

with the pointer on the Zero

Indicator (7)

3. Tighten the locking knob to

secure the depth adjustment

gauge in the required position.

This will limit the movement of

the tool body and therefore the

drilling depth to the maximum

value you have set

ADJUSTING DRILLING HEIGHT
The rack and pinion fence height adjustment mechanism

allows adjustment of the drilling height from 9mm to

43mm (

HANDLING WHEN DRILLING
Always use two hands when

drilling:
• Hold the Tool Body (4) of the

jointer in one hand, with the

thumb resting comfortably

on the On/Off Switch (15)

and with the other hand hold

the Handle (3) so the tool is

securely held

SWITCHING ON AND OFF
• To start the dowel jointer press the rear of the On/Off

Switch (12) and slide the switch forward, then push the

front of the switch down into the groove that secures

the switch in the ‘On’ position

• The on/off switch is spring-loaded - light pressure on

the rear of the switch will instantly return the switch to

the ‘Off’ position

2. Rotate the Fence Height

Adjustment Knob (16) to raise

or lower the fence

3. Align the black arrow on the

height adjustment mechanism

with the height required on the

Height Scale (18)

4. Tighten the fence height

locking screw to secure the fence at the set height

GRIPPER PINS
• The Gripper Pins (13), situated on either side of the

Front Face (12) are spring-

loaded to help stop the tool

from moving laterally during

operation. They feature small

teeth that protrude slightly

above the surface of the front

face that push into the wood

helping secure it when drilling

• If you feel that there is a

chance that the gripper pins

might scratch your workpiece,

rotate the pins approximately

a quarter of a turn and push

them back behind the front

face.

• One pin turns to the right and

the other to the left.

Set up / Operation

OPERATION

Notes:
• In order to drive holes into the workpiece as required,

first set up the dowelling jointer according to the

‘Set Up’ instructions and prepare the workpiece(s) by

marking in pencil at the required drilling points

• It is important that the workpieces are accurately

marked. It may be easier to loosely assemble the two

pieces together in exactly the required position and

mark with a pencil across both pieces, and then drill the

holes. Assemble loosely again, with the first 2 dowels

fitted, before marking again where subsequent dowels

are required. Ideally a middle position in the wood is

preferable for the first dowel holes.

• There is little tolerance when joining wood with dowels,

so accurate measurement is very important at all times.

The most critical holes are normally those at the edges

of the workpiece, so any positioning mistakes are best

placed in the middle of wood where extra dowel holes

can be added if necessary

• The workpiece will need to be clamped to the

workbench, although it is possible the use of a non-slip

mat between the workpiece and workbench surface will

be sufficient in some instances
