5. Maintenance

5.1. GENERAL MAINTENANCE

1. For best results, change the oil in the system after the first 3 hours of

operation.

2. Change the oil annually to remove accumulations of dirt or condensation in

the system. Replace with Type A automatic transmission oil—do not overfill.

Leave 1/2 L (1 qt) of space to allow for fluctuations in oil level.

3. To prevent seepage, replace the O-rings (one each #113, #116) in the relief

valve after long-term use or if they start leaking.

4. If the grain auger is to be used for a long period of time without needing the

bin sweep (such as in harvest time), the belt should be removed from the

pump system in order to avoid excessive wear.

5.2. ADJUSTING BELT TENSION

To make the belt tighter on the Portable Bin Sweep, see Figure 5.1. The belt on

the pump is tightened by means of the linkage. The adjustment is from the

welded stud, which tightens the belt by pushing the pump further away from the

gas engine.

Warning:

Before continuing, please reread the safety information relevant to this section at the

beginning of this manual. Failure to follow the safety instructions can result in serious injury,

death, or property damage.

CAUTION

Oil escaping under pressure can have

sufficient force to cause personal injury, and

may be hot enough to cause skin burns.

Before disconnecting the hydraulic hoses,

relieve oil pressure.
