Problem

Solution

Uneven seed spacing or uneven stand

Check for plugging in seed cups.

Check for plugging in seed tubes.

Reduce ground speed.

Check if opener disks are turning freely.

Use faster drive type and position seed-rate handle to a lower setting.

Increase row-unit down pressure to penetrate low spots. Refer to Row Unit Adjust-
ments,
Adjustments,page 14.

Check for trash or mud build-up on Seed-Lok wheels. Lock up wheels if neces-
sary. Refer to Seed-Lok Lock Up, “Adjustments,” page 22.

Opener disks not turning freely

Check for trash or mud build-up on opener disks. Replace disk scrapers if neces-
sary. Refer to Opener Disks and Scrapers, “Adjustments,” page 25.

Check disk bearings.

Check row unit frame for damage.

If opener disks turn freely by hand but not in field, reduce down pressure on row unit.
Refer to Row Unit Adjustments, Adjustments,page 14.

Check T-handle adjustment. Refer to Row Unit Adjustments, Adjustments,page
14.

Check if side gauge wheels are too close to opener disks, restricting disk move-
ment. Refer to Side Gauge Wheels, Adjustments,” page 15.

Actual metering rate is different than
desired

Check tire pressure. Proper inflation is listed on Tire Inflation Chart, “Appendix,”
page 34.

Check tire size. Proper size is 9.5L x 15 on 1515 drills and 11L x 15 on 2015 and
2515 drills.

Regularly clean seed treatment from seed cups.

Check seeding rate. Refer to Seeding Rate, “Adjustments,” page 17, for instruc-
tions on calibrating seeding rates.

Consider your seed weight. Seed-rate charts are based on average seed weights.

Acremeter does not measure accurately

Check tire pressure. Proper inflation is listed on Tire Inflation Chart, “Appendix,”
page 34.

Check tire size. Proper size is 9.5L x 15 on 1515 drills and 11L x 15 on 2015 and
2515 drills.

Check planting operation for excessive overlap or gaps between passes.

Consider soil conditions. Loose soil and slippage will cause variations in acres
registered.

Check that acremeter is for your width of drill. Refer to drill parts manual.

Acremeters are accurate within a 5-percent range.

Closing wheels not compacting the soil
as desired

Move T-handle for closing wheel back a notch. Refer to Row Unit Adjustments, Ad-
justments,
page 14.

Increase down pressure on row unit. Refer to Row Unit Adjustments, Adjust-
ments,
page 14.
