Check for the correct number of shims between the
side gauge wheel (1) and the wheel arm (2). There
must be at least one shim between the wheel bearing
and arm. When installed, the wheel should turn freely
and not hit the arm at the curve. Do not add any more
shims than necessary.

8.

Disassemble side-gauge-wheel arm from row unit.
Remove bushing (3) from sleeve (4) and check bush-
ing for wear. Replace bushing if necessary.

9.

When reinstalling side gauge wheels, align tab on hex
adjustment (5) with notch in bushing. Replace bolt and
tighten.

Drive System
Keep drive chains properly adjusted and lubricated. Reg-
ularly check drive chains for excess slack and wear. Adjust
idlers to remove any excess slack from chains. Refer to
Figure 5-4 for idler location.

Storage

Store drill where children do not play. If possible, store drill
inside for longer life.

1.

Thoroughly clean seed-treatment residue from drill
boxes and seed cups.

2.

Lubricate and adjust all roller chains.

3.

Lubricate areas noted under Lubrication, page 27.
Take special care to oil seed-cup-drive sprockets in
the square bore.
