Removing the System Board

1.

 

Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.

2.

 

Remove the cover (see "

").

3.

 

Remove the cooling shroud (see "

4.

 

Remove the front cooling fans (see "

5.

 

Remove the back cooling fans (see "

Remove the expansion-cards (see "

Remove the memory module, hardware key, and battery for the integrated RAID controller (if those components are installed) (see "

Remove the microprocessors and VRMs (see "

Remove the system battery (see "

Remove the IDE cable for the CD/diskette drive (see "

13.

 

Remove all other cables attached to the system board (including the intrusion alarm cable, the control panel cable, and the three cables from the power

distribution module).

Remove the system board (see

Figure 4

-35

):

a.

 Loosen the system board's thumbscrew and slide the system board forward about 0.5 inch. 

b.

 

Lift the system board off its grounding tabs in the system.

Replacing the System Board

1.

 

Lower the system board onto its grounding tabs and slide the system board back until the board's thumbscrew can be tightened to secure the system

board into place (see

Figure 4

-35

).

Replace the system battery (see "

3.

 

Replace the microprocessors and VRMs (see "

").

4.

 

If necessary, replace the memory module, hardware key, and battery for the integrated RAID controller (see "
