Setting Up SMI-S

The Dell Compellent SMI-S Provider is set up via the Enterprise Manager Data Collector
Manager properties. SMI-S can be set up during the Data Collector installation or at a later
time. Setting up the Dell Compellent SMI-S provider consists of setting the following Data
Collector Manager properties:

On the

General properties tab, select the Service User Type for the Data Collector

Service. The

User Type you select determines the options that are available for

managing Pegasus users. To automatically add and manage a Pegasus user, run the
Data Collector as either a Domain User Account or a Local User Account. To manually
manage Pegasus users, run the Data Collector as a Local Service Account (the default).

On the

SMI-S properties tab, enable SMI-S and set SMI-S properties. SMI-S properties

include enabling SLP and/or https services, as well as selecting to manually manage
Pegasus users or not.
