Manually Manage Users: Select this option if you want to manually manage SMI-S
users. See

. If the Data Collector

Service User Type (see

) is

set to Local Service Account, you

must manually add at least one Pegasus user to the

Pegasus server to support SMI-S, and this option is automatically enabled. For all other
Service Types (Local User Account or Domain User Account), the default is disabled.

SMI-S User and SMI-S User Password: If Manually Manage Users is disabled,
specifies the user you want the Data Collector to automatically add to the Pegasus
server. The user must be a valid system user on the server running the Data Collector.

3 Click Apply Changes.

To enable a domain or local user account to log on as a service

1 From the Windows Start menu on the Data Collector server (Windows 2003 or 2008),

select

Local Security Policy from the Programs>Administrative Tools menu. The

Local Security Policy window appears.

2 Expand the Local Policies>User Rights Management node and double-click on the

Log on as a service policy. The Log on as a service properties dialog appears.

3 Click Add User Group.

4 Enter the user name of the local user account or domain user account you configured

for the Data Collector. Make sure you enter the name correctly. Use the

Check Names

option to validate the name.

5 Click Ok.
