Focusing manually

when focusing manually, first focus in telephoto before recording, and then reset the
shot length.

) Set FOCUS to MANUAL. The ® indicator appears in the viewfinder.

Move the power zoom lever to the "T" side until the lever reaches the end.

(

) Turn the NEAR/FAR dial to achieve a sharp focus. Be sure not to touch the

built-in microphone when you turn the NEAR/FAR dial.

) Set the desired shot length using the power zoom lever.

To return to autofocus mode

Set FOCUS to AUTO. The

® indicator in the viewfinder disappears.

Shooting in relatively dark places

Shoot at wide-angle after focusing in the telephoto position.

To record a very distant subject

Push FOCUS down to INFINITY. The lens focuses on the most distant subject while
FOCUS is held down. When it is released, manual focus mode is resumed. Use this
function when shooting through a window or a screen, to focus on a most distant
subject.

Note on manual focusing

The following indicators may appear:

i4 : when recording a very distant subject.
^ : when the subject is too close to focus on.
