Precautions
Camcorder operation
•Operate the camcorder on 7.2 V (batter\ pack) or 8.4 V (AC power adaptor).
• Tor LX or AC operatiiMi, use the accesstn ies recommended in this manual.
• Should an\- solid object ctr liquid get inside the casing, unplug the camcorder and ha\ e
it checked by a Son\- dealer betöre operating it arw turther.
• A\’oid rough handling or mechanical shock. Be particularl\- careful of the lens,
• Keep the POWER switch setting to OFF when not using the camcorder.
• Do not wrap up the camcorder and operate it since heat may build up internalh'.
• Keep the camcorder away from strong magnetic fields or mechanical yibration.
Built-in light

• Do not knock or jolt the built-in light while it is turned ( mt as it may damage the bulb
or shorten the life of the bulb.
• Do not lea\ e the built-in light on while it is resting on or against something; it may
cause a fire or damage the built-in light.
On handling tapes
1 ^ 0 not insert anything in the small holes on the rear oi the cassette. I’hese holes are
used to sense the type of tape, tlrickness of tape and if the recording tab is in or (Hit.
Camcorder care
• When the canreorder is not to be used for a long time, remoye the tape. Periodically
operate the camcorder both in CAMERA and PLAYER modes and play back a tape for
about 3 minutes.
• Clean the lens with a soft l')rush to rerno\ e dust. If there are fingerprints on it, remove
them with a soft cloth.
• Clean the camcorder bociy with a dry soft cloth, or a sott cloth lightly moistened with
a mild detergent solution. Do not use any type of solvent which may damage the
finish.
• Do not let sand get into the camcorder. When you use the camcorder on a sandy
beach or in a dusty place, protect it from the sand or dust with some protector such as
Sony sports pack. Sand or dust may cause the unit to malfunction, and sometimes this
malfunction cannot be repaired.
